"I don't always give a title to my emails, but when I do..." (Week #13)

Bula Vinaka! Well, this week has been interesting, I have decided that eating the skin and fat chunks of a pig, while they taste delicious, my stomach would disagree entirely. But luckily, I'm doing good now. Transfer week just finished, so that mess is over. I'm still with Elder Jessee, which I'm happy about. Our Zone didn't really change a whole lot, aside from 1 Elder leaving and 1 coming in. The sad part, is our district isn't really sure who we're going to tease now. This week, we started teaching someone named Joni, and he's super chill. He's somehow related to one of the members in the village,(who isn't?), and he seems really interested. Things are going pretty well with him, and he'll hopefully be baptized next month. Other exciting news is that all the members in the district able to go to the Temple are all planning on going on Friday or Saturday. Elder Jessee and I are really hoping that some of his recent converts are

Well...I've Been Hit by a Car (Week #12)

Bula Vinaka! Well, good news, we have some pictures!  Yay! Bad news, I forgot to take many, so we have 3! Also bad news, I've been hit by a car. This past week has been pretty good. I celebrated my birthday, it was kind of weird without having to celebrate 3 in a row like we used to do, but hey, I'm 1 year older now. And maybe wiser, we'll have to see on that part. Other good news, I am feeling pretty healthy. However, Elder Jessee wasn't feeling the best, so we had to go down to Nausori town to go to the doctors. He's doing good now, but we went on my birthday, and the Zone Leaders said, "Hey, let's go find food for your birthday." So we got some fancy food, and cheesecake, which was really good.                                                       We went back up to Saioko for Exchanges this week, and that's where the pictures are from. I was with Elder Reese, and he is pretty chill

So, what do we actually do if there's a hurricane?" (Week #11)

Image
Bula Vinaka! Well, good news, we are doing fine. No hurricane issues really, it kind of disappeared on Tuesday. In better news, I found my camera cord, so we get pictures this week! Yay! In this past week, I went on an exchange to the Nausatoka area, but unfortunately, I forgot my camera there, because it's beautiful. But later went with one of the ZL's, and found a super sketchy bridge to cross over, so that was fun. I honestly don't remember a whole lot of what happened this week, but that was probably because I wasn't actually in my own area for a couple of the days of the week. Spiritual thought for the week. Do the Come Follow Me thing. I was looking at the one for Sunday School earlier, and just by skimming over it, it seemed fantastic. I think that the Leaders of the Church are really inspired, just by seeing how they are going to be putting more focus on the home and making it more centered on Christ. Au lomani iko! 1: Th

"The only way to get there, is to get a little bit of mud on the tires." (January 6, 2019)

Bula Vinaka! So, I'm sorry to say that I don't know where my cord that plugs into the computer and my camera is, so sorry, but it'll hopefully show up so ya'll can get pictures. I guess the first thing is that there is a class 2 cyclone coming my way, so that's fun. There's been a ton of rain and mud, but, as a song says, "The only way to get there, is to get a little bit of mud on the tires." So far, it's been safe to go out, but if it gets much worse, we might get to stay in the flat for a couple of days, because this storm is moving really slowly for some reason. Second, because of all the mud, I have slipped up once or twice, and landed in it, so if I find my cord someday, ya'll will see pictures. I guess the next thing is that I have discovered that if you have a complete change in dietary intake, you tend to get some stomach issues. It's been a weird adventure, but I'm doing all right, just warning you all if you ever

It's Almost the New Year (December 30, 2018)

Image
Well, Bula Vinaka! It was kind of a weird week this past week. But I think that's mostly because of the fact that I was able to call my family this past week, which was pretty cool. That and the idea that the day afterwards, me and my companion got kind of sick. I'm doing good, but my companion isn't doing all that great. We're pretty sure that it's all the sicknesses from America he hasn't been exposed to for the past 2 years. Again, sorry, but I don't have a whole ton of different pictures this week, but I do have a couple. The first two is the view from the Chapel. It's pretty nice.  The third is the view from the Elders Flat in Levuka, a small island a little ways away.                                        The 4th picture is of our Christmas Tree in the flat, and it's rather fantastic, if I do say so myself. More  pictures to come!      (Unfortunately we never got a picture of the tree, but he did throw

Bula Vinaka!  It's been a crazy week, but that's not a bad thing. As far as how this week was, I'm honestly not sure on where to start. I guess I'll start with the trip to Levuka. Anyways, there's this island just off the coast of the biggest Island in Fiji, and it's called Levuka. There are 2 Elders in that area, and because I'm companions with the district leader, we get to go over there once or twice a transfer. It's so gorgeous over there, and the Elders have a wonderful view of the ocean. The only downside is that to get over there is a 5 hour bus/boat ride. But it was really cool, I got to see Elder Suguturaga again, so that's pretty cool. I know he'll do great out there, and is going to love it. Then, the other day, I spent several hours in the maternity ward of the local hospital because one of Elder Jessee's recent converts went into labor. She gave birth to a beautiful new baby boy. I don't remember what his name was, I

Bula Vinaka! Well, I guess the first thing I want to say is it's been a crazy week or so. But I guess traveling and living in Fiji will do that to you. The second thing I want to say is I'm sorry to Mom, mostly because I have somehow mostly forgotten to take pictures, but I do have a couple. As far as where Korovou is, I really just know it's on the east side and above Suva. It's a little Bousch, but that's alright. The members have been trying to get me to say "Au mai Korovou", which means I'm from Korovou. I'll probably start doing that at some point, but right now, I'm sticking with Utah. The First picture is of my companion, Elder Jessee. He's from Seattle, but his family has lived in Dubai for the last 3 years. He enjoys swimming & water polo. He was a little disapointed when he found out he wasn't allowed to get into the water to much here, but he's alright with it. He like the color blue. His favorite animal is th
